Bill Grose
Bill is a Chartered Civil Engineer and independent tunnelling consultant. He is a past Chairman of the British Tunnelling Society and currently leads their Communications Committee and liaison with Parliament. Bill has also served for a number of years as Member of Council at the Institution of Civil Engineers, where he is currently vice-chair of the NCE Advisory Board and a member of ICE’s Public Voice Committee.
Bill has a lifetime’s experience of tunnelling and underground space projects from inception to construction and from designer to Project Director. He worked at Arup for over 35 years, the last 20 as a director, and founded, developed and led their tunnelling business worldwide. He was a member of HMT’s Core Team that wrote their 2010 report on the cost of construction of UK’s infrastructure, and for 5 years prior to that was Arup’s Project Director for the planning and design of London’s Olympic Park.
Bill has been engaged on numerous major tunnelling projects across the world and is currently advising clients on HS2, Silvertown Tunnel and Tideway all in London UK, two underground projects in the USA one in South Africa and one in Peru.
As well as engineering skills in tunnelling and underground space, Bill also brings to TDUK skills in costing and finance, communications, media relations and positioning.
